Arrive in Phnom Penh by morning flight. Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia, effortlessly combines traditional Khmer culture with French colonial elegance. The city's tree-lined boulevards and French villas offer glimpses of its historical allure, once considered the “Gem of Southeast Asia.” New establishments—restaurants, bars, hotels, and vibrant nightclubs—have arisen, adding a modern pulse to this charming city.

Start the day with a visit to the Royal Palace, a spectacular structure built in 1866 with stunning Khmer architecture, housing the residence of the Cambodian king. Nearby lies the Silver Pagoda, adorned with thousands of silver tiles and housing a dazzling collection of Buddha statues crafted from emerald, gold, and diamond. Next, head to the Independence Monument, constructed in 1954 to commemorate Cambodia’s liberation from French rule, and continue to the National Museum. The distinctive red Khmer structure, built in 1917, houses over 5,000 artifacts made from sandstone, bronze, silver, and copper.

After lunch, explore Cambodia’s darker history at the Toul Sleng Genocide Museum (S21), a former high school turned torture center by the Khmer Rouge. Later, drive 15 km from Phnom Penh to the Killing Fields, a serene memorial where many Cambodians lost their lives.

Head to Kratie with stops in Kampong Cham. Upon arrival, enjoy a boat cruise to view the endangered Irrawaddy Dolphins at Kampi. Later, ferry to Koh Trong Island and take a peaceful 9 km bike ride around the island, passing traditional Khmer stilt houses and interacting with locals.

Begin with a visit to the 100 Pillars Pagoda, constructed in the 16th century to honor King Chann Reacher's daughter. Afterward, visit the Mekong Turtle Conservation Center and learn about the conservation efforts for the endangered Mekong soft-shell turtle. In the afternoon, take another boat ride for a dolphin-watching cruise in Kampi, a protected site for river dolphins. 

Overnight in Kratie

Depart from Koh Trong to Kampong Thom, with a stop at Wat Roka Kandal and Chhlong village. In Kampong Cham, visit Wat Nokor Bachey Pagoda, an 11th-century temple, before continuing to Siem Reap. The journey offers views of rural Cambodia, with scenic roads winding through traditional villages and rice paddies. 

Overnight in Siem Reap

Spend the morning exploring Angkor Thom—starting with the South Gate and continuing to the Bayon Temple, renowned for its 54 towers adorned with over 200 smiling faces. Then, visit Baphuon Temple, the Royal Palace Phimeanakas, Elephant Terrace, and Preah Palilay Temple in the forest. In the afternoon, explore the iconic Angkor Wat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, marveling at the intricate bas-relief carvings. 

Overnight in Siem Reap.

Venture to Phnom Kulen, Cambodia’s holiest mountain, about 1.5 hours from Siem Reap. Discover Preah Ang Thom, a 16th-century Buddhist temple with a giant reclining Buddha. Walk to the tiered waterfalls of the River of 1,000 Lingas and witness sandstone carvings beneath the water, a Hindu religious site.
